Getting out of the swing of things and GTD

I’ve apologised more than once for the thinness of Dangerous Thinking posts recently.
The sheer busyness of life has overridden the introspection needed for blogging - along with the ‘no time to fire up SharpReader’ syndrome (Rosam, D Journal of Dangerous Thinking, 2004).
But I also think I’ve found another way to fill the odd corners of the day.
Some kind of synchronicity went on between buying a refurbed Palm IIIxe (last time I looked, £29.99 from www.ebuyer.com) and Getting Things Done by David Allen after someone recommended it to me a year or so ago.
I wish I could remember who - they have my measure, whoever it is. Allen is the king of the list; my old Psion 7 is full of lists. The man has completely justified my gut feeling that I have to just dump things in a repository to stop me worrying about them. What a relief!
But - and this is just as important - he’s helped me systematise my lists and has shown me how to move the content forward.
The Palm, BTW, is great. I’m a convert. Money seems to be well spent, and I have my eye on a Sony Clie with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for later in the year. I just need to live with the PDA for a bit longer.
So spare moments are spent reordering lists, ticking off completed tasks, and playing with new bits of Palm software. But as I’m sitting here tapping away into DT, perhaps I’ve got to the stage where GTD is working for me, not me for it.
